Chiropractic adjustments are hands-on treatments used to improve the movement and function of joints in the spine and other areas of the body. During an adjustment, a chiropractor applies a controlled force to a joint that is not moving normally or is contributing to pain, stiffness, or limited mobility.

Depending on the technique used, an adjustment may involve a quick, gentle movement or a slower, lower-force approach. You may hear or feel a “pop” during some adjustments. This sound is caused by a change in pressure within the joint and is not required for an adjustment to be effective.

Why Chiropractic Adjustments?

Chiropractic adjustments may be included as part of a treatment plan for patients experiencing back pain, neck pain, joint stiffness, headaches related to the neck, sciatica, or other musculoskeletal problems. Adjustments can also be combined with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and other treatments when appropriate.

The type of adjustment used depends on the patient, their condition, examination findings, comfort level, and treatment goals. Not every patient receives the same type of adjustment.

Our chiropractors are trained in several adjusting techniques, allowing treatment to be adapted to each patient's individual needs. Click on each technique to learn more.
